Hello and welcome back to the blog! When I first received this 2 Page kit from Hearts-N-Crafts - I knew I had photos of people and kids dressed in 50's attire - but after I read the title again "Made in the 50's" I knew I had to make a layout featuring my husbands school pictures!
The Kit contains:
- Two 12x12 printed pages. Top and bottom borders are included on the printed page, no need to cut and attach!
- Four 12x12 sheets of cardstock (2 to mat the printed pages and 2 for photo mats)
- Assorted ephemera as shown
I did add some items from my stash - most notably, a Jolee's Boutique dimensional Elvis sticker set that well over 20 years old and a little washi tape!
Page One Details:
I stayed true to the kit example for page one. I did trim down the patterned background paper by 1/4" on each side before mounting to black cardstock and adding a faux stitch border with a white pen ( I recommend Gelly Roll 08 pen - very smooth and does not dry out)
Details added to give it my personal style are:
- a stamped and inked journaling strip across windshield ("Vintage 1951" - the year he was born)
- a stamped and inked journaling strip with his name on license plate
- Car ephemera and title are attached to layout with foam tape to add dimension
- Black sequins on the title (the black on black is subtle - but adds some sparkle!)
PAGE Two:
I omitted the dress form ephemera and substituted my Elvis mixed media sticker from Jolee's. Embellishments were added with different thickness of foam tape/dots to create interest.
I added some random black sequins to make the 2 pages cohesive
I love how this layout came together, and how I had enough supplies in the kit to change it up for my layout.
And here is your bonus: I made this adorable card with dress form ephemera I did not use on my layout!
Thanks for stopping by XOXO!!
Shelly
